Goal
Where can I find the Database / Client software to download for Microsoft Vista, or Windows 2008R1?

NOTE: This Note discusses the Oracle software for Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows 2008R1. The Service Pack level does not matter, Oracle does not certify to the Service Pack level.

For Microsoft Windows 2008R2 (x64), Oracle has not certified the versions listed below.
At the time of this writing, the ONLY certified Oracle version for MS Windows 2008R2, is the Oracle 11.2.0.x version.
This may change at a later date.
Check the Oracle Certification site for more details.
Or check Note 867040.1.

Solution
The software can be found on the OTN (Oracle Tech Net) web site: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/index.html
The steps are:
- Open a new browser session, go to technet.oracle.com
- On the Shortcuts menu bar (at the top), move your mouse over the Downloads option, and Click on the Database option.

For Oracle 11gR1:

For MS Windows 2008, you can select either:
(11.1.0.7.0)
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (32-bit) (1.9 GB)
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 x64 (1.9 GB)

For MS Vista, you can select either:
(11.1.0.6.0)
Microsoft Windows (32-bit) (1.7 GB)
Microsoft Windows (x64) (1.7 GB)

For Oracle 10gR2:

Scroll down the page, until you see:

Oracle Database 10g Release 2
Standard Edition, Standard Edition One, and Enterprise Edition

You can select either:
Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.4) for Microsoft Windows Vista x64 and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 x64 Oracle Database 10g Release

-or-

Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3/10.2.0.4) for Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows 2008

NOTE: For the Database software, you can ONLY install the x64 version on MS Windows (x64).
You can NOT install the 32bit version Database software on MS Windows (x64).

These versions are specifically for Microsoft Vista and Windows 2008R1.
The Oracle 10gR2 versions will only install on MS Vista or MS 2008R1. You can not install these versions on other Windows versions (ie., XP, 2000, 2003, etc..).

To apply patches to MS Vista or Windows 2008R1, you can use the same patch that is available for the other Windows Operating Systems. Basically, there are not specific patches for MS Vista or MS Windows 2008.

For example, to get the 10.2.0.4 patchset, you would download patch number 6810189, and apply it to the MS Vista system. This is the same patch that would be applied to ALL Windows Operating Systems (keep in mind, 32bit patches applied to 32bit OS's and 64bit patches applied to 64bit OS's).

The same applies for the interim patches (aka Bundle patches or CPU Patches).

NOTE: It is suggested to apply the most recent patches available. Some of the older patches (for example, bundle 10.2.0.4 patch 12 may not work, due to the patch being released before the Windows Vista or 2008R1 versions became available. The newer patches should work fine.

Microsoft Windows 64bit versions:
=========================
For Microsoft Windows 64bit, for the AMD64 or EM64T processors:
Use the platform titled: MS Windows x64 (64-bit)
For Microsoft Windows 64bit, for the Intel Itanium processor:
Use the platform titled: MS Windows Itanium (64-bit).
In this
Goal
References

Applies to:
Oracle Server - Enterprise Edition - Version: 10.2.0.5.0 to 10.2.0.5.0 - Release: 10.2 to 10.2
Microsoft Windows (32-bit)
Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)
Goal
Instructions to Install Oracle 10.2.0.5 on MS Windows 7 and MS Windows 2008.
Solution
Download the 10.2.0.3/10.2.0.4 media on the OTN (Oracle TechNet) site.
The steps are:
- Open a new browser session, go to technet.oracle.com
- On the Shortcuts menu bar (at the top), move your mouse over the Downloads option, and Click on the Database 11g option.
- Check the box for Accept License Agreement
- Scroll down the page, until you see Oracle Database 10g Release 2.
- Choose either:
- For 32bit Windows: Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3/10.2.0.4) for Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows 2008
- For 64bit Windows: Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.4) for Microsoft Windows Vista x64 and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 x64
NOTE: The software currently says it is for MS Vista / 2008R1. This is the software you will need.
Run the installer (OUI).
Ignore the following prerequisite errors displayed by Oracle Universal Installer and complete the installation:
- Checking operating system requirements
- Checking service pack requirements
(Click on the Ignore Errors Check Box)
Another option is to run the following command from the CMD Line:
CD to the directory where the Oracle files were extracted.
Then run the command:
setup.exe -ignoreSysprereqs (case sensitive)
This will ignore the Pre-Requisite checks.
If you want to avoid performing an upgrade on the DB (when the patchset is applied), you can perform a Software Only installation (ie., do not create a DB at this time). Then after the 10.2.0.5 patchset is applied, you can run the DBCA tool, and create a new DB.
Otherwise, if you create a DB during the installation, after applying the 10.2.0.5 patchset, you will need to run the upgrades (in the Readme Note for the patch).
Once the installation is complete, you will need to Install the 10.2.0.5 patch set.
This is patch number: 8202632.
See NOTE.430449.1 (How to find DB Patches for the Microsoft Windows platforms), if you need help finding the patches.
Make sure when you download the patch, you choose the correct Platform (to match your Operating System).
For example, ALL Windows 32bit versions will be under the platform titled: Microsoft Windows (32bit).
And all Windows x64 versions will be under the platform titled: MS Windows x64 (64-bit).
Follow the instructions in the Readme Note for the patch, to get the patch applied.
